A latest survey of Christians in Scotland revealed a “palpable sense of exclusion” from public life.
In a survey of greater than 1,000 Scots, greater than 70 per cent of those that determine as Christians felt that the Scottish Authorities didn’t assist them. Announce newspaper stories.
Three-quarters of Christian respondents stated they had been involved about abuse directed at Christian politicians.
Round seven in 10 stated that they had skilled prejudice about their religion, together with “damaging feedback or attitudes about it”, whereas an analogous proportion stated they had been “reluctant to speak about their religion in public”.
Non-Christian respondents differ of their perceptions, with the bulk saying that Christians in Scotland face no discrimination.
The survey was carried out by Christian assume tank Logos Scotland, which is looking on First Minister John Swinney to do extra to enhance tolerance in the direction of Christians.
Logos CEO Shona Haslam stated: “These findings reveal a palpable sense of exclusion among the many vibrant Christian group in Scotland.”
It follows latest hostility to SNP MSP Kate Forbes over her affiliation with the Free Church of Scotland, notably her Christian beliefs on abortion and same-sex marriage.
Figures from the newest Scottish census in 2022 revealed that the variety of non-religious Scots now outnumbered these following a faith for the primary time within the nation, whereas the proportion of Scots belonging to the Church of Scotland fell from 32.4% to twenty.4% within the earlier decade. .
