    DeSantis bows out, throws endorsement for Trump: He's 'superior to incumbent'

    Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis withdrew from the race for the Republican nomination on Sunday and endorsed Donald Trump, saying he has variations with the previous president however believes he’s “superior to the present incumbent, Joe Biden.”

    DeSantis resigned six days after his second-place end in Iowa and two days earlier than Tuesday's first-in-the-nation New Hampshire main.

    His departure leaves solely two main candidates within the Republican race: Trump and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley.

    DeSantis is the present governor of Florida.

    “After our second place end in Iowa, we prayed and thought of the way in which ahead,” DeSantis stated in a video posted on his social media accounts. “If there was something I may do to get a good consequence — extra marketing campaign stops, extra interviews — I’d do it. However I can't ask our supporters to donate their time and sources if we don't have a transparent path to victory. Accordingly, I’m suspending my marketing campaign immediately.”

    “It's clear to me that almost all of Republican main voters wish to give Donald Trump one other probability,” DeSantis stated.

    “Whereas I’ve had disagreements with Donald Trump, such because the coronavirus pandemic and his promotion of Anthony Fauci, Trump is healthier than the present incumbent, Joe Biden,” he stated. “It’s clear.” I signed a pledge to help the Republican candidate and I’ll hold that pledge. He has my help.”

    DeSantis stated he ran for president to “struggle for the forgotten on this nation.”

    “That is America's time to choose — we are able to select to permit the border invasion or we are able to select to cease it,” he stated. “We are able to select reckless borrowing and spending, or we are able to select to shrink authorities and cut back inflation. We are able to select political indoctrination, or we are able to select classical schooling. These elections are symptomatic of the underlying battle to make sure that constitutional authorities endures and that Western civilization survives.

    Florida's governor ended his four-minute speech with a nod to the longer term, probably the 2028 election.
