    Church leaders call for a stand against violence after Southport stabbing

    Church leaders from numerous denominations and traditions issued a joint assertion expressing their “shock, unhappiness and horror” at Monday's lethal knife assault at a youngsters's dance class.

    The tragedy at a Taylor Swift-themed class in Southport, close to Liverpool, claimed the lives of three youngsters, six-year-old Bebe King, 7-year-old Elsie Stancombe and 9-year-old Alice Aguiar. One other eight youngsters have been injured, 5 significantly. A 17-year-old boy is being held on suspicion of homicide and tried homicide.

    Church leaders mentioned they have been protecting all these affected by the “horrific” assault of their prayers and referred to as on “individuals of all faiths and none to return collectively and assist them in no matter means they will.”

    “Life is a treasured reward and to take it from such younger youngsters is actually heartbreaking,” they mentioned.

    “Our heartfelt condolences exit to the households and family members of all these whose lives have been misplaced. We pray for many who stay critically in poor health and injured.”

    They added: “We recommit ourselves to face in opposition to brutality and violence in each kind and to do every thing in our energy to construct secure, caring and powerful communities.”

    The signatories of the letter embody the Anglican Bishop of Liverpool, Dr. John Perumbalath, Catholic Archbishop of Liverpool, Reverend Malcolm McMahon, Chairman of Liverpool Methodist District Dr. Sheryl Anderson and Northwest Baptist Affiliation Regional Minister Rev. Phil Soar. .

    They issued a particular prayer for Southport:

    Merciful God,
    Phrases alone can’t specific our unhappiness and disbelief
    Our hearts and sorrows
    When such treasured lives are so brutally stolen.
    We give you the cries of our personal hearts
    And pray for these households whose grief and loss
    It’s unimaginable to grasp.

    Assist us all cling to hope
    Even within the midst of this mindless brutality.
    Be near all whose lives have been so cruelly marked;
    Encompass them together with your love;
    Maintain them tight of their sorrow,
    And provides them energy within the midst of their excruciating ache.

    We can’t escape our wrath and devastation,
    However select to search for hope even within the midst of this darkness.
    Could it spur us on much more by all of the horror
    By no means give in to despair
    However construct a world the place peace, hope and love reign.
