The Supreme Court docket on Monday allowed Border Patrol brokers in Texas to chop razor wire put in alongside the U.S.-Mexico border.
In a 5-4 vote, the justices authorized an emergency enchantment from the Biden administration.
In courtroom paperwork, the administration stated the wire prevents Border Patrol brokers from reaching the migrants as they cross the river and that federal immigration regulation governs Texas' efforts to stem the circulate of unlawful immigration into the nation.
Chief Justice John Roberts and Justices Amy Coney Barrett, Ketanji Brown Jackson, Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor sided with the administration, whereas Justices Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Clarence Thomas voted for Texas.
The wire, positioned alongside almost 30 miles of the Rio Grande close to the border, is a part of Texas Gov. Greg Abbott's bigger struggle with the administration over immigration enforcement.
