The assertion comes as left-wing Christians have condemned the widespread love of God and nation, with one Texas Democrat accusing Christian nationalists of “betraying Jesus”.

“Three years in the past, Christian nationalists stormed the US Capitol and killed law enforcement officials whereas carrying crosses and 'Jesus Saves' indicators,” mentioned Texas state lawmaker James Talarico (D). “Two years in the past, Christian nationalists within the US Supreme Court docket overturned Roe v. Wade, permitting states like ours to ban abortion even in instances of rape and incest. And as we converse, Christian nationalist billionaires try to dismantle public schooling within the state of Texas, thereby dismantling democracy.

“Let me be clear, there may be nothing Christian about Christian nationalism,” Talarico declared. “It’s the worship of energy — political energy, social energy, financial energy within the title of Christ, and it’s a betrayal of Jesus of Nazareth,” he mentioned. “Jesus by no means requested us to kill law enforcement officials. Jesus by no means requested us to ban books, silence academics, or defund faculties. Jesus by no means requested us to manage girls's our bodies. Jesus by no means requested us to determine a Christian theocracy.

“All he requested was that we love thy neighbor. Not simply our Christian neighbors, not simply our straight neighbors, not simply our male neighbors, not simply our white neighbors, not simply our wealthy neighbors,” the Democrat famous. “We’re known as to like all our neighbors, and that’s the actual reverse of what Christian nationalism is doing on the earth.”

In February, Politico reporter Heidi Przybyla appeared on MSNBC and argued that the beliefs of “Christian nationalists” have been the issue, particularly their perception that rights come from God.

“The one factor that unites all of them … as Christian nationalists—not Christians, by the way in which, as a result of Christian nationalists are very totally different—is that they imagine that our rights as Individuals, as all human beings, don’t come from any earthly authority. . They don't come from Congress. They won’t come to the Supreme Court docket. They arrive from God.”

She added that “males” “decide what God tells them to do,” which suggests opposing abortion, homosexual marriage and different progressive points.
