Christians can’t serve God and cash as their masters, so they need to deal with God as their final treasure and provides their temporal wealth to these in want, says Pastor John Piper in a latest DesiringGod.org video.

Piper, who based DesiringGod.org and serves as chancellor of Bethlehem School & Seminary, mentioned the problem of cash within the fifth video in his six-part “What Jesus Calls for of the World” video sequence posted on DesiringGod.org.

Within the video, Piper makes use of scripture to argue that it’s not possible for Christians to serve each cash and God.

“Cash is harmful. You probably have it and also you rely upon it, it would kill you. Should you don't have it and also you need it, it would kill you. Cash can kill us as a result of it reveals our hearts,” Piper says in his video.

Piper then factors to Luke 12:21, which states that “so it’s [fool] who lays up treasures for himself and isn’t wealthy earlier than God.”

This solutions the query of what a Christian ought to worth as his wealth if he’s not to be obsessive about financial possessions, says Piper.

“I believe it means counting God as your wealth. Should you're in search of the place to be wealthy, give attention to God. He's your nice reward. He's your wealth,” Piper says within the video, later including that “Both you're looking for , to make God your treasure in all the things, otherwise you hunt to earn cash in all the things.”

Piper has spoken with regards to cash a number of instances previously and through a chat in January 2012 she stated that the place an individual locations his worth in life, that’s the place he places his coronary heart.

“The motion of your cash means the motion of your coronary heart. The place your cash goes, your coronary heart goes. You alternate cash for what you worth, what you worth,” Piper says in a 2012 video.

“So once I say that cash is harmful and helpful, I imply that the items of metallic and paper in your pocket or purse have the facility to point out that you just worth issues greater than God (which is harmful), or that you just you worth God greater than issues (which is useful, paper is nothing, however its expression of the treasures of your coronary heart is all the things,” Piper provides.
