Daily Devotional: Tuesday, July 2 – You Can’t Do It

“After Jesus had gone indoors, his disciples requested him privately, ‘Why couldn’t we drive it out?’ He replied, ‘This type can come out solely by prayer.’” — Mark 9:28-29

There are lots of conditions the place we’re tempted to attempt to pry management from the fingers of God and place our personal fingerprints and efforts on our circumstances. Time and again all through my life, I foolishly attempt to do issues in my very own energy. The issue isn’t that I don’t consider in Jesus or lack perception in His capability to alter circumstances; the issue is I don’t have the religion that He’ll intervene.

The disciples of Jesus witnessed many miraculous works. And though they noticed Him do the inconceivable, they generally lacked religion that He would do it once more, in order that they tried to interact Kingdom work with worldly efforts. One time, they tried to heal a demon-possessed boy however failed. Instantly, Jesus confirmed up and healed him. The issue wasn’t their lack of perception in Christ, however that they weren’t aligned with God’s Spirit.

Once we pray, we’re not altering God’s thoughts or manipulating Him to do one thing we would like. It’s not a secret code we use to get what we would like out of Him. It’s how we align ourselves with our Creator and the one One who can really intervene and heal the brokenness. Prayer is a chance to attach with God and permit Him to obtain His perspective and ideas into our hearts.
