    Christian Villarreal named Standard-Times Athlete of the Week

    With many groups all through the realm getting ready for playoff runs, many standout athletes have been nominated for the Commonplace-Occasions Athlete of the Week.

    This week Ozona returns Christian Villarreal he was chosen because the Commonplace-Occasions Sportsman of the Week after receiving 38,607 votes, which was 48.74% of the whole votes forged.

    Eldorado's Marcos Morin completed second with 36,133 votes.

    In a win over Reagan County, Villarreal rushed 21 occasions for 107 yards and two touchdowns for the Lions.

    Learn how to submit nominations for subsequent week's award

    The Commonplace-Occasions accepts weekly nominations and can publish an inventory of finalists for Excessive College Athlete of the Week every Tuesday.

    Nominations are due by Monday at 5 p.m. and could be submitted by e-mail to sports activities@gosanangelo.com or by messaging the Commonplace-Occasions on X (previously generally known as Twitter) @sast_sports.

    College students can solely be named Athlete of the Week as soon as per season, in every sport, and athletes from one faculty can not win greater than three consecutive weeks.

    College students in all varsity sports activities could also be nominated. The ballot will shut on Thursday at 2pm and the winners will likely be introduced each week.
