    Nearly 60,000 people sign letter asking Keir Starmer to protect freedom of thought and prayer

    A letter asking the Prime Minister to behave to guard freedom of thought and silent prayer has been signed nearly 60,000 instances.

    The letter was issued by Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF UK), which helps military veteran Adam Smith-Connor, who was convicted final week of silent prayers within the buffer zone of an abortion clinic in Bournemouth. He was ordered to pay £9,000 in prices.

    The letter says: “Freedom of thought is our most basic and valuable of rights – and has lengthy been acknowledged in British legislation and in all main human rights paperwork from the Common Declaration of Human Rights onwards.”

    He says it will be a “very worrying step” if silent prayer have been to be criminalized in authorities tips, as Sir Keir has steered.
