A Bakersfield, Calif., protester was granted $2 million bail this week after making dying threats in opposition to metropolis council members.
Officers escorted Riddhi Patel, 28, out of a Bakersfield Metropolis Council assembly after she made repeated dying threats to council members.
“I don't imagine you're going to try this,” Patel informed members in response to their Gaza ceasefire decision. “You’re all horrible human beings and Jesus would in all probability kill you himself.
Patel, who identifies as non-binary then threatened to trigger violence if councilors selected to oppress their constituents.
“I remind you that these holidays that we apply, that different folks within the World South apply, imagine in violent revolution in opposition to their oppressors, and I hope that sooner or later somebody will carry the guillotine and kill you all. [expletive]” stated Patel.
“Within the final 5 years that I've been in metropolis council conferences, there's by no means been steel detectors, there's by no means been extra cops,” Patel stated. “The one cause you're doing it’s as a result of folks don't actually care in case you don't like them, and so they're truly preventing again, so that you're making an attempt to criminalize them.”
Mayor Karen Goh reprimanded Patel, saying: “What you stated on the finish was a risk, so the officers will take you out and cope with it.
Officers charged Patel with eight counts of intent to terrorize and eight counts of threatening public officers.
